my question is :

environmet :82599 intel Ethernet Controller, EXSI system in host and ubuntu in Client, and my system require dpdk

when i build the ixgbe in host successfully, and bind vf in ubuntu ,i find the queue in vf is only 1 in both tx and rx,

then i change the rss=8,8,MQ=1,1 in host, but it has no effect on the queue value of vf unit ,dpdk can't work in my system,i want to change the tx queue to 8,how to do it ?

Can I use Direct Cable when connecting PC to PC?

$

When connecting PC and PC directly

In general, a cross cable is used.

I saw a PC to PC connection via a direct cable.

We confirmed that the ping test works normally.

There seems to be a separate LAN card to support this ...

Is there a way to check in the Network attribute?

Or is there a supported Chipset series?

I218-V Wake On Lan broken with Fastboot - Bug

$

Hi all

Currently with the all available versions of the Windows 8.1 x64 I218-V you cannot use Wake On Lan if you have fastboot enabled, which is extremely painful.

Specs of system:

Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

CPU: Intel Pentium G3420

RAM: 8.00GB DDR3 (9-9-9-27)

Motherboard: ASUS Z97M-PLUS

HDD: 500gb WD Black

This is a media pc, which really would make use of fastboot.

I've tried the drivers, all versions available, from the ASUS site:

Intel LAN Driver V12.11.96.1

Intel LAN Driver V19.0.27.0

This new driver from Intel site:

PROWinx64.exe 19.3

BIOS has correct settings to allow wake on lan.

Every single kind of power related setting imaginable to disable management on ALL devices, full power mode ahead. No joy.

No matter what options you use this horrendous set of drivers does not allow wake on lan with fast boot enabled, unlike every single realtek nic based mobo i've ever used.

I doubt that it will be fixed, or if Intel engineers even read these forums. But here's to hoping...

While it works without fast boot enabled, this is not a fixed. Merely a bandaid to the dodgy driver.

X540-T1 - Device stopped (code 43)

Hi there,

I have 2x the same setup of one X540-T1 network card in a Logic Supply MK100B-50 (ASRock IMB-181-D Motherboard) and in both computers, after a certain amount of usage, the X540-T1 card stops working. When I go in the Windows Device Manager it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (code 43)"

I can disable and re-enable the device to make it work but only temporarly. The problem comes back.

I've also installed the latest intel driver. It says it is version 4.0.215.0 which was installed with the file: IntelNetworkDrivers-PROWinx64.exe.

Should this work?

Any ideas of how to fix this?

Thank you.

Does the i40e driver support vlan hardware filter s?

$

I am trying to filter network packets based on vlan tag ids.  Using wireshark I can capture/inspect packets with 2 different VLAN IDs on my network.  I was hoping to suppress packets associated a particular VLAN ID.  So, using the ethtool I added a hardware filter as follows:

sudo ethtool -U eth11 flow-type udp4 vlan 0x65 vlan-ask 0xE000 action -1 and

sudo ethtool -U eth11 flow-type udp4 vlan 0x67 vlan-ask 0xE000 action -1

Both commands are accepted (I observe 2  message indicating that rule 2001 and 2002 has been added, respectively)

After execution of the above commands,  no packets associated with VLAN 0x65 or 0x67 are received (good - what I expected).  As soon as I clear

one of the hardware filters via ethtool (sudo ethtool eth11 delete 2001) I receive packets associated with both VLAN Tags 0x65 and 0x66).

I was wondering if intel driver i40e truely supports hardware filtering?

Thanks

Module eeprom with i40e and XL710-QDA1

Hi Intel,

I would like to read-out the module eeprom of QSFP transceiver connected to a XL710-QDA1 NIC.

The naive approach failed:  ethtool -m eth0. It reports: "Cannot get module EEPROM information: Operation not supported"

Is this feature supported by the NIC and the Intel driver i40e?

I am using the following driver and firmware:

driver version: 2.0.23

firmware-version: 5.05 0x800028a2 1.1568.0

Thanks and kind regards

Hi ,

I was  trying to set up Intel XL710 in 2x40 mode using the QCU but I am getting the error ""QSFP+ Configuration modification is not supported by this adapter."

Although If I try to check the current configuration it shows the mode as N/A.

Internet keeps dropping, Win10

$

Hi,

My internet keeps dropping every 10 minutes or so, it's a new computer with an ASRock B250M Pro4 motherboard, and a wired ethernet connection. My phone does not have any problems with the same router, neither did my previous computer.

I've read a bunch of solutions around the web, the main one is to go to Device Manager -> the network adapter -> Properties -> Power Management, and then turn off the "Allow the computer to save power" option.

This option wasn't there, and my settings looked something like this http://i.imgur.com/PBgPCSs.png which I assume is because the driver is newer than when that solution was proposed. I turned all the options in this dialog off, and it made no difference. I

I then installed several different versions of the drivers on the intel site, some with the "save power" option, and none of them stopped the issue from occurring.

What are my next steps?

Issue with setting smp_affinity on ixgbe cards

$

Hi,

I am using a Dell PowerEdge R730 with Dual Xeon, each 22 cores, with 6 ixgbe compatible cards, on which I am running Linux with ixgbe driver version 4.4.0-k, using kernel versions both 4.7.10 and 4.9.6.
I am loading the ixgbe modules at boot time, bringing up the interfaces and setting smp_affinity to the cards, using the set_irq_affinity script, so all the possible RxTx IRQs are distributed between all the available cores.
The problem is that it happens, random, but quite often that the smp_affinity setting fails, and I need manually to re-run the script one or more times in order desired settings to be applied. There were also several occasions when the settings were not applied at all, and it took me several reboots to script to start working again.
The problem appears not only randomly as occurrence, but also at random NIC controllers, so I am excluding the possibility of failed HW, since I also changed NICs.

I added some debug messages to track the affinity setting in Linux kernel, and it turns out that most of the times when the setting fails the error that affinity setting function irq_do_set_affinity returns is EBUSY, but also sometimes it returns ENOSPC.

More investigation on the topic showed whenever EBUSY was returned the problem could be overcome with re-running the script. But if the error returned was ENOSPC, it takes several reboots for the problem to disappear.

In order to provide some more details on the system I am attaching two text files with the output of the modinfo of the ixgbe and lspci on the machine.

10.250.11.254            ether   6c:3b:6b:e9:7c:e1   C                     in1

But arp is not stable, it disappear very quickly:

------------------------------------------------------------

Address                  HWtype  HWaddress           Flags Mask            Iface

10.250.11.254                   (incomplete)                              in1

The strange thing is:

ping via in1 will not fill up the arp table for in1 Iface (always show incomplete), but ping via other two iface seems fill the mac address into in1 some time.

I have tcpdump to in1 and found it send out ARP request broadcast, but did not get any ARP reply from host 254.

This looks persist and will not change whatever I ping via any Iface.

I have also try to change VF port, but seems none of them work with OVS bridge.

But the bridge worked if assigned the port to eth0 or eth1 PF.

Asus Maximus Viii Impact MB Ethernet Issue

Hi Everyone, Im trying to track down an issue with my LAN port,,My motherboard uses a Intel i219V controller and this is a new htpc mini itx build.

So far Ive looked over a few things such as downloading the latest drivers for the chipset and updating the bios on the asus board,,from the very first post

I have been skeptical of a hardware issue due to a lack of any port activity via the normal lights one expects to see from the ethernet port, in my limited experience

I usually see a light in or near the port no matter if it is active or not, this boards port has been silent of any lights so far,,however I thought i might run this by the

community here just in case someone else might have encountered a lan issue with this controller or a problem with Asus ROG products in respect to the network

controller, i am open to suggestions and have a fair amount experience with PC hardware and sometimes do repairs for friends and family.

any troubleshooting suggestions ? I hope maybe I would be so lucky as to have missed an option in the bios setup, but I havent looked into that yet,

Wireless on the asus board appears to work well and uses a qualcomm Atheros Dual band adapter and antenna. So far it performs well in any part of my home

but I prefer old school wired networking if at all possible,

This was motherboard number 2 as the first board came with some bent pins and had signs of being an open box,,this board however came packaged sealed and everything

checked out ok, first post went well after breadboarding it just to confirm it wasnt DOA,,anyone who has built into a small form factor case knows how much trouble this can save you.

So is the i219v have any current issues that might cause a ethernet port to appear dead ?

Hi, my lan cable connection is disconnecting/reconnecting every few minutes. It's not internet problem since WiFi works fine. I've updated the drivers to latest, re-install from board cd, still the same. Also changed cable, same issue. It's very frustrating and i don't know what to do. What could be wrong? Please help.

I211/I217-V Windows 10 LACP teaming fails

$

Hello,

after the update to Windows 10 (x64, Build 10240) the creation of a teaming group (static or IEEE802.3ad) with a I211+I217-V NIC fails.

Drivers have been upgraded to the latest version available and multiple reinstallations with reboots din't help either. Whenever the group creation wizzard is used and a groupname (several tried), the adapters and LACP have been selected, a Windows pop-up appears to tell me group creation has failed.

However the Windows Device Manager shows a newly created "Intel Advanced Network Services Virtual Adapter", so some kind of configuration seems to get done.

Using Windows 7 SP1 x64 the exact same setup worked flawlessly for months, so Win10/the driver are the likely culprit.

Is anyone experiencing similar problems and/or is this a known bug? Feedback on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Famaku

I'm really confused. I'm getting conflicting answers. I just need to know if NIC teaming works with the latest versions of Windows (1703)

from the driver page for the 1219:

" Intel® ANS is only supported on the Windows 10 Anniversary Update"

However, referencing this page, it looks like it IS working? for some people?

Facing one weird issue on the Intel setup (We have 2 machines having Intel card -both side we have Intel xl710 having 40G speed). We are seeing just 1 Gbps of throughput with netperf, iperf etc using ESXi 6.5

Setup has ESXi 6.5 (latest VMware Tools install with adapter VMXNET3) on both DUT/Partner each having a VM on which we ran Netperf/iPerf.

We have updated latest driver and firmware on Intel.

Additionally@@ we have tried throughput in loopback mode with both Intel interfaces on same machine connected (below) just to make sure that its an Intel adapter issue on a particular machine but it doesn't seem to be the case

I've been having issues with TX driver issue detected, PF reset issued and fail to add cloud filter for quite some time across 12 VMware ESXi v6.0 hosts. About once a week the result is a purple screen of death (PSOD).

I recently upgraded the XL710 to NVM Firmware v5.0.5 and the VMware ESXi XL710 driver to the latest v2.0.6 on 4 of the 12 and the issues persist.
