Network settings HP Z440.

Hey.

Two workstations HP Z440 have Windows 10 version installed OEM version.

Network interface from Intel in the settings of more than 30 parameters.

1) How can I transfer settings from one workstation to another?

2) Are there any tools for migrating network settings from one workstation to another?

Client PC VLAN and VoIP VLAN on same interface?

Can a single client Ethernet Adapter be used on both a PC VLAN and a VoIP Softphone on a different VLAN?

I would like to use the QoS associated with the VoIP VLAN for the SoftPhone, but have the PC traffic on the Client VLAN.

I would like the IP address for each VLAN to be assigned by DHCP.

Is this possible?

Thanks,

Mike

i210 blue screen on install and during operation

$

Hello,

I'm running Windows Server 2016 on a Asus P10 WS mainboard. This MB has two i210 network interfaces on-board. Currently, I'm using only one of them, the second one is disabled in Windows device manager.

The driver installed has a date of 08.12.2016 and a version of 12.15.184.0 (as shown in device manager.)

For the interface in use I have enabled teaming in Windows to use different VLANs. For a while now, there were two virtual adapters "Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver #X" in my system, each configured with a different VLAN ID. This has been working quite well for some time now.

Recently, I tried to add a third VLAN. During configuration, the machine crashed with a blue screen. After reboot, the third virtual interface was there regardless. Now, I'm experiencing (seemingly) random crashes (blue screens) every once in a while. They seem to be more frequent when the new, third virtual adapter is being used a lot, but I can't really put my finger on it.

However, when I run the executable of the latest Intel driver package PROWinx64.exe v22.7.1, there is a reproducible blue screen as soon as the new driver is being installed. There is an additional popup by the installer that says something like "installing driver for i210 Gigabyte connection...". That's when the machine crashes consistently.

The memdump analysis says the following (first example is a "random" crash, second one is the "driver install" crash:)

Hi,

I have a NIC card 82599EB 10-Gigabit. I want to enabl SR-IOV and multiqueue on this NIC. My OS is fedroa 18.

If I load the driver ixgbe like this "modprobe ixgbe", then I can see the multiqueue is enabled.

Multiqueue Enabled: Rx Queue count=32, Tx Queue count=32

But I enable SR-IOV, load the driver by this "mdprobe ixgbe max_vfs=2", then multiqueue is disabled.

Multiqueue disabled: Rx Queue count=1, Tx Queue count =1

So how can I enable SR-IOV and multiqueue both? This is really import for me.

I'm testing throughput of a D-1500-based X552 and a X520, and according to lspci their PCIe lane configuration is as follows:

admin@capture:~$ sudo lspci -vv | grep -P "[0-9a-f]{2}:[0-9a-f]{2}\.[0-9a-f]|LnkSta:" |grep -A 1 Ethernet

04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection X552 10 GbE SFP+

LnkSta:    Speed 2.5GT/s, Width x1, TrErr- Train- SlotClk+ DLActive- BWMgmt- ABWMgmt-

06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection (rev 01)

LnkSta:    Speed 5GT/s, Width x8, TrErr- Train- SlotClk+ DLActive- BWMgmt- ABWMgmt-

06:00.1 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection (rev 01)

LnkSta:    Speed 5GT/s, Width x8, TrErr- Train- SlotClk+ DLActive- BWMgmt- ABWMgmt-

However, I'm getting the exact same numbers for each. It doesn't make sense that the X552 would only get 1 lane.

Is what lspci is telling me wrong?

Thanks.

I211/I217-V Windows 10 LACP teaming fails

$

Hello,

after the update to Windows 10 (x64, Build 10240) the creation of a teaming group (static or IEEE802.3ad) with a I211+I217-V NIC fails.

Drivers have been upgraded to the latest version available and multiple reinstallations with reboots din't help either. Whenever the group creation wizzard is used and a groupname (several tried), the adapters and LACP have been selected, a Windows pop-up appears to tell me group creation has failed.

However the Windows Device Manager shows a newly created "Intel Advanced Network Services Virtual Adapter", so some kind of configuration seems to get done.

Using Windows 7 SP1 x64 the exact same setup worked flawlessly for months, so Win10/the driver are the likely culprit.

Is anyone experiencing similar problems and/or is this a known bug? Feedback on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Famaku

i210 Gigabit issue !!!

Hi Guys,

Looking for some help/inputs in sorting this issue. Basically trying to force 1000Mb/s with the intel i210 nic using the ethtool utility. command was "ethtool -s eth5 speed 1000 duplex full autoneg off". Ensured that link partner is capable of 1000Mb/s and using the cat5e cable. It works fine for 100Mb/s. With the default code, it was NOT working and when I collect the ethtool statistics ; it shows speed/duplex as "unknown".

Later tweaked the kernel (3.12 - igb driver) code in the below sequence by configuring these registers with the below values .

#################################################

E1000_82580_PHY_POWER_MGMT (0x0E14) -> 0x00000000

E1000_CTRL_EXT (0x0018) -> 0x10000000

PHY Register 0 -> 0x4140

PHY Register 9 -> 0x1e00

PHY Register 16 -> 0x5f70

mac->forced_speed_duplex = ADVERTISE_1000_FULL;

phy_reset

reset link/reset adapters

##################################################

Looking for some input on validating the above sequence !!! With the above sequence., even when 1000Mb/s was forced it was at 10Mb/s. As per datasheet, Link speeds are influenced by Power states. But I believe, PHY power management register as shown above was configured with right value (set "disable 1000 in nonD0 states" - 0). Please let me know , if there are other areas (other than power management) that I need to look into which is preventing 1000Mb/S speed.

And below is the output of important registers .

So I have this problem with this network card after some computer usage like 1 day si 5 hours this problem occurs i Have high dpc latency and this will cause audio pop ups if i browse in firefox, internet explorer, I tried install the last driver ( disable power saving options)- not working

- i have uninstall last driver and use the windows one nor working as well

-no I have update the driver in device manager 12.15.184.0 wait for the problem to get reproduced

the solution is to disable the network card the dpc lantecy checker will go back to normal or if i restart everything get back to normal but this is not normal.... (

- I'm using the latest driver of motherboard and graphic card etc

- did all kind of checks with hdd sentinel (all ok) , sfc/scan now check the windows image all ok

Re: Intel X710-DA4 / VMware ESXi 6.5u1 - Malicious Driver Detection Event using fw 1.3.1

Hi,

We have had similar issues we are using the Intell X710. Every few weeks since upgrading to ESXi 6.5 the networking on one of our hosts has been locking up. We stumbled across the below article which described the issue well and also mentions disabling the i40en driver.

Install ESXi 6.5 on R730 with Intel X710 |VMware Communities

Note we were on firmware version 1.3.1, did this issue get resolved with an upgrade to  1.4.3 NIC Driver for Intel Ethernet Controllers  X710?

Looking in some forums some people ordered new nics to get around the issue.

My adapter is "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V" on an ASUS HM97-PLUS motherboard with Window 7 SP1 64-bit. I am using the latest Intel(R) PROSet version 22.9.6.0. I have been getting this error with earlier version as well, but I can't find anymore at what version the errors began.

Also, what exactly does the Intel® PROSet Monitoring Service do for me?

vxlan: non-ECT with TOS=0x02 logs were generated

Hi

I use intel 1G and 10G ethernet card with openvswitch under vxlan overlay network.

Some VM started to use ECN and I found weird logs were generated about non-ECT.

I checked vxlan packets, but all packets had no errors. Also, vxlan outer header's ECN was normal acording to RFC6040.

I changed ethernet card to Broadcom, and I found there was no non-ECT log.

I need to stop wrong non-ECT logs. How should I do?

Please see below informations:

We have procured over a dozen NUC6i7KYK (mfg 07/2017) to act as a receiver of a moderate rate (~320Mbps) UDP stream of data. We have found that the I219-LM adapter is dropping packets. We have been able to replicate the issue using the iperf tool. For the application (and for my troubleshooting tests) the NUC will be direct connected to the data source via a new, short (~1m), patch cord.

We have the latest BIOS (KYSKLi70.86A.0050.2017.0831.1924) and we are using Ubuntu 16.04.3. We have also tried Ubuntu 16.04.2 and 17.10. We have tried the distro provided e1000e 3.2.6-k driver as well as the latest e1000e 3.3.6 driver.

We have set net.core.rmem_max to 33554432 and net.core.wmem_max to 576000.

We have set coalescence to zero: ethtool -C eno1 rx-usecs 0.

We have maxed the receive ring buffer: ethtool -G eno1 rx 4096.

We have ensured max CPU frequency via cpufreq setting it to "performance".

Data loss is non-deterministic and sometimes happens immediately, after several minutes, or several hours. Typically it is a single missing packet. We can not afford any lost data.

I had a ZBOX-CI323NANO with openSuSE 42.3 on it. This low performance device has Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCIe GbE adapters. It received UDP data with zero losses. That's the sort of results I expect from this NUC.

It has net.core.rmem_max and net.core.wmem_max set to 16777216.

We also have used a Pluggable USB3.0 GbE adapter. It also runs with no lost data - however, it tends to "go away" after indeterminate periods of time - not sure if that's a NUC, OS, or pluggable issue.

I saw this thread that looks familiar to my problem:UDP packets frozen with at least I219-V, I219-LM and I217-LM

When I run wireshark, occasionally I see the interpacket gap be ~10ms instead of the typical handful of microseconds.

x710 SR-IOV problems

Hi all,

I have following baseline:

Dell R630 (2x14 core Xeon, 128GB RAM, 800GB SSD)

x710 4-port NIC, in 10Gbit mode

SUSE12SP1

Latest NIC firmware but default PF/VF drivers (came with OS, v1,3,4)

VF driver blacklisted on hypervisor

Setup according to official Intel and Suse documentation, KVM hypervisor

With test setup, single VM with single VF and untagged traffic, I could achieve basically line-rate numbers: with MTU 1500, there were about 770Kpps and BW of 9.4Gbps, achieved both for UDP and TCP traffic, with no packet drops. There is plenty of processing power, setup is nice and tidy and everything works as it should.

Production setup is a bit different: VM is using 3 VFs, one for each PF (4th PF is not being used). All VFs except first one use untagged traffic. First VF is passing two types of traffic: first one untagged (VLAN 119) and second one tagged (VLAN 1108). Tagging is done inside VM. Setup worked fine for some time, confirming test setup numbers. However, after some time following errors started to appear in hypervisor logs:

Mar  11 14:32:52 test_machine1 kernel: [10423.889924] i40e 0000:01:00.1: TXdriverissuedetected on VF 0

Mar  11 14:32:52 test_machine1 kernel: [10423.889925] i40e 0000:01:00.1: Too many MDD events on VF 0, disabled

And performance numbers became erratic: sometimes it worked perfectly, sometimes it did not. But most importantly, packet drops occured.

So, I've reinstalled everything (hypevisor and VMs), configured exactly as before using automated tools, but upgraded PF and VF drivers to latest ones (v2.0.19/v2.0.16). Errors in logs disappeared, but issue persists. Now I have this in logs:

2017-03-12T11:33:43.356014+01:00 test_machine1 kernel: [  420.439112] i40e 0000:01:00.1: Unable to add VLAN filter 0 for VF 0, error -22

2017-03-12T11:33:43.376009+01:00 test_machine1 kernel: [  420.459168] i40e 0000:01:00.0: Unable to add VLAN filter 0 for VF 0, error -22

2017-03-12T11:33:44.352009+01:00 test_machine1 kernel: [  421.435124] i40e 0000:01:00.2: Unable to add VLAN filter 0 for VF 0, error -22

I've increased VM CPU count number, VF ring sizes, turnet off VF spoofcheck in hypervisor, VM linux software buffers, VM netdev.budget kernel parameter (amount of CPU time assinged for NIC processing) etc. but situation remains the same. Sometimes works perfectly, other time it does not.

Can you please provide some insight? Since rx_dropped counter is increasing in VM, I am suspecting driver/VF issue.

Is there a way to handle this problem, without switching to untagged traffic?

Thank you in advance,

Ante

Intel I210-T1 and disabling MCTP

So I noticed the I210-T1 supports MCTP and not seeing where I can disable this, checked the firmware boot config guide and it was conspicuously blank: Upgrade, Enable, or Disable Flash with the Intel® Ethernet Flash...

Also anybody know if the I210-T1 hooks into IME if the onboard (which IME normally uses) is disabled, i.e. I get the feeling Intel is sneaky like that.

I have a system I use as a gateway:

Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection (Lewisville) (rev 04)

It is a component of a fit/PC Intense running Linux is the 4.9.67-1-lts #1 SMP kernel from Arch Linux.  This problem has been going on for several kernels now over the last month.

Intense PC models specifications

It has been having trouble reseting and possibly check summing.  I use a ssh proxy tunnel which has always remained open and stable to panix.com.  Now it dies

It has been suggested that I can monkey with the module settings, but I'm not certain what to try or to procede with.  Guessing blindly is usually not useful

Hello

i'm looking for Intel NIC  that do ipsec offload to the NIC

i saw some datashet e.g 540 that claims that HW supports ipsec offload - but there is no support in linux driver

Thanks Avi
