Hi All,

I am connecting my Intel Galileo with the LAN cable and get the IP address using the DHCP server, but I am not able to get a valid IP address.

The IP address I am getting is 255.255.255.255

I am using the Example INO file DHCP Address Print to get the IP.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Dual port 10Gbe performing at half speed

I have two servers running OpenSUSE both with  Intel dual port 82599EB 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ using the ixgbe drivers. And I'm not getting the bandwidth I expect with iperf. Both ports are connected directly to the the other two ports of the second server.

On one machine I run

iperf -s

On the other machine I run these two commands in separate terminals.

iperf -c 192.168.1.10 -t 20 -B 192.168.1.20

iperf -c 192.168.1.11 -t 20 -B 192.168.1.21

And I get

[  4]  0.0-20.0 sec  7.63 GBytes  3.28 Gbits/sec

[  5]  0.0-20.0 sec  14.7 GBytes  6.30 Gbits/sec

If I run only one port, I get

[  6]  0.0-20.0 sec  22.8 GBytes  9.80 Gbits/sec

Shouldn't I be able to expect roughly 10Gbe on each port simultaneously? Do I have the wrong hardware for that requirement? Or an invalid test?

What is the tx_restart_queue?

What causes tx_restart_queue to increment?

Is it normal to see packet drops when tx_restart_queue increments?

Latest Intel 82579v driver for wake on lan doesn't work in windows 8 and 8.1

Hello,

I would like to report that the latest intel driver for 82579v (18.7.28.0) doesn't work with asus motherboard p8z77-I delux. In fact, all previous driver versions from 16.x to the latest never worked for WOL in Windows 8 x64.

A work around that I had found when I was using Windows 8 was to use the WHQL drivers from Asus which worked flawlessly, however ever since that I've upgraded to Windows 8.1 the Asus drivers are no longer compatible and WOL stopped working.

While I will advise Asus of this problem, the intel WOL functionality in definitely broken in 82579v on Windows 8.1 using the p8z88-I motherboard.

One thing I noticed while troubleshooting the problem is that if I shutdown my PC using a "service running account" from my ipad app, I am able to wake up my computer from the lan.

If I manually shut down the PC through my regular account, the wake up on lan doesn't work....

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

DPC Latency problems with Intel 82579LM based Network Controller on Windows 8

$

Hi,

After weeks of troubleshooting DPC latency problems on my Lenovo Thinkpad T420 laptop which were causing audio dropouts and mouse freezes every few mins I have finally tracked down the source of the issue. It appears that the Intel 82579LM based Network Controller driver may not be correctly optimised for Windows 8. I'm running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and am using the latest Intel driver for the controller (12.6.45.0). In troubleshooting the issue I tried everything I could think of such as:

Update BIOS and all drivers to latest versions

Disable CPU and PCI Power Management in BIOS

Disabled onboard Sound (I use a separate professional audio sound card), Wifi, Bluetooth

Change power management settings to High Performance and Disabled USB selective suspend

Turn on all offloading settings on Ethernet NIC

Ran bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes

Disabling Network Location Awareness in Windows

Nothing made any noticable difference at all. I had also been noticing that my network performance had been pretty poor intermittently on this machine for a while, occasionally experiencing dropouts and low download speeds (yes I know that can be caused by many other factors but please hear me out). Every few mins on the PC I would experience a DPC latency spike of around 95000us to 100000us which would occur right when the audio dropouts, mouse freezes, and probably network pauses would occur. I use the PC for audio production amongst other things so this causes me big issues.

I was totally baffled by the problem until I ran an xperf trace in the Windows Performance Toolkit and saw that the spike was being generated from ndis.sys and tcpip.sys. That got me thinking down the lines of a network related problem so I disabled the onboard Intel(R) 82579LM based Network Controller in Device Manager in Windows 8 and what do you know the problem disappeared competely!!  No more DPC latency spikes ever (tested for hours and many times). I can do pretty much whatever I like on the PC and the problem does not reoccur. Not one single audio dropout in my Audio DAW either. The onboard Wifi is still running (Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 - v15.8.0.5) providing me with network access and download speeds through the wireless nic are both much faster and more stable surprisingly (should be the other way around if anything). As soon as I re-enable the 82579LM NIC the problem is immediately back within a few mins.

I am desperate to get this fixed as I cannot use wireless all of the time. Intel can you please fix the 82579LM driver to make it fully compatible with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. I'm sure many other people out there are having the same issue and just don't know the cause, or put up with it it as real time applications such as audio are less important to them. I have read about other people having these issues and it only appears to be with Windows 8. I think the drivers are fine for Windows 7, although I haven't confirmed this for sure.

Intel please consider patching the 82579LM NIC driver ASAP for full Windows 8 support. I can assist in providing you information if you require as I'm very keen to get this sorted.

Thanks,

Brad

Problems with 10Gb NICs and Nexus switches

Hi all,

We are facing a peculiar problem when connecting particular NICs to particular switches. The NICs will go off-line for 4-5 seconds, in irregular intervals, and then return to service as if nothing had happened. The weird thing is, we see this only on particular combinations of NICs and switches:

- Intel 82599EB, 8086:151c, only work reliably on a Nexus 4900M switch. When used on a Nexus 3064, we get a lot of those:

Sep  2 14:06:16 host kernel: ixgbe 0000:04:00.0: eth0: NIC Link is Down
Sep  2 14:06:21 host kernel: ixgbe 0000:04:00.0: eth0: NIC Link is Up 10 Gbps, Flow Control: RX/TX
Sep  2 14:06:21 host kernel: ixgbe 0000:04:00.0: eth0: NIC Link is Down
Sep  2 14:06:23 host kernel: ixgbe 0000:04:00.0: eth0: NIC Link is Up 10 Gbps, Flow Control: RX/TX

- Intel X540-AT2, 8086:1528, only work reliably on a Nexus 3064, When used on a Nexus 4900M, we observe the above.

All servers in question are running CentOS6. Those that are Dell have all the latest firmware and BIOS updates installed. We even tested the (then) latest Linux drivers, downloaded directly from Intel, over the ones that come with the OS, but it made no difference. Other machines in the mix are HP and custom-built, and all have one or the other NIC card.

Are there any debug tools for the NICs that could be useful here? Are there any particular options that should or should not be set?

Thanks.

Hi,

I am trying to create  teaming between two intel adapters that i have previously teamed before many times. But this time, I get this message:

"The specified adapter(s) could not be used to create a team. Use the `Team_ValidateAdaptersForTeaming' command to get the warning messages resulting from this action."

After doing above i get no error/warning messages. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, but still getting the same result any ideas to solve this issue.

Thanks.

Hello All,

I am trying to install Windows XP on a HP ZBook 17 but unfortunately I am unable to find the drivers for the Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM

I tried searching it every where contacted HP support but they are unable to help. The network adapter present in the laptop is the Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM.

Will be really glad if some one helps me to sort this out. I need this up and running as one of the application which I use supports only XP. I have been trying to find this driver for more than a year now

intel igb i354 issue with lack of multiqueue (intel atom C2758 board)

$

Hi there,

I've been having some trouble getting igb/i354 to enable multiple queues.

Despite compiling the latest igb module (5.2.9.4 at the time of writing this) I have not been able to enable it.

I have ensured that MSI-X interrupts are used, and even set RSS values to 8 (and IntMode to 2 to be safe again) and rebuilt initrd and have googled extensively as well as followed all the information/advice I've seen in intel's documentation for installing the modules. The kernel I am running is 2.6.32 on a proxmox installation (though I tried with a 3.10 kernel as well with same results).

The motherboard is a Supermicro A1SRi-2758F atom server board and there is nothing I can see in the BIOS that looks like it could be causing this issue.

I am starting to think that I am missing something obvious here...

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Iakovos

Using WGI210ISSLJXX without NC-SI???

Hello,

I am currently trying to implement an I210 solution to convert PCIe from an Atom Processor to a SGMII interface to connect to a Marvell 88E6176 Ethernet switch.

In this application I have the I2C and SMB bus connected to the Atom processor. Do I still need to connect the NC-SI interface to something?

If it is not needed then do I just leave the pins floating or how do I have to have them pulled up/down for proper operation.

Thanks;

Leo

Intel 82579LM drops to 10Mbps from Gigabit, refuses to go back

Ive got the Intel DQ67EP board with the Intel 82579LM onboard NIC.  Ive got the machine running Windows7 64bit.  Ive got this problem where randomly it drops from Gigabit to 10Mbps and will never negoiate back to gigabit.  I can disconnect the cable, reconnect it, dont work.  I can plug that same cable into another machine like my Lenovo T420 laptop, and it has no issues connecting gigabit, so I know its not the cable, or port, or Hub.  However still plugged into a different port of the hub, still dont work.  Plugged it into a different hub, still dont work, still keeps sitting at 10Mbps.

Ive rebooted it, still negoiates at 10Mbps.  Shut the PC down, wait 1min, turn it on, still sitting at 10Mbps.  So at this point dont believe its driver.  I have the latest 16.5 running on the Windows.

ONLY way I can get this working is one of two ways.  I have to unplug power, not just shut it down.  I need to kill power from the board entirely.  Wait 10secs, then plug it back in.  Then upon starting up, its set to gigabit with no issues.  Other way is to change a setting in Bios which when you exit/save it causes it to kill power to the board for a second.  So the fact that killing power to the board fixes it, tells me its some hardware or firmware level issue, clearly not the driver.

Now to explain when it happens, I do have the machine set to sleep and wake at certain times.  Most of the time it sleeps fine, wakes up fine and still sits at Gigabit.  Theres no explanation on how many times it takes before it decides to go into some stuck state of only negoiating at 10Mbps.  Even going into Device Manager and setting it to 100Mbps, or 1000Mbps, Half or Full duplex does nothing.  It disconnects the Link and Reconnects but only sits at 10Mbps.  Im normally connected via the IntelAMT via RealVNC.

Ive updated from the 0054 bios to 0055 last week so Im also on the latest Bios revision.

What causes this to get in such a stuck state that only killing power to the board fixes this?

I Wonder if there is possibility to connect two servers directly (without switch or switches) with use of 2x Intel x520-DA2 10Gb Network adapters and Intel Ethernet SFP+ Twinaxial Cable XDACBL3M. Anybody has experience with similar configuration?

Problems with "Intel PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter" (EXPI9402PTBLK) freezes???

Hi i'm using this adapter for an industrial application and the two ports is wired directly to two other pc:s. It's working fine however every now and then (maybe once a week) the connection is lost between one port of the EXPI9402PT and one pc. The connection seems to be completely dead as the leds of the adapter stops flashing. A simple reboot of the comuter fixes this issue! It is very imortant that this connection runs at 1gbit all the time so the connection speed of the card is set so. The system is running windows xp and i dont know exactly what version of the driver is yet. (will find out later)

I haven't had any chance to investigate further as the operators reboots the computers as soon as this problem occurs.. But is this a known issue? Should i replace the card with some other model??

Edit: It can of course be the integrated network of the other pc's mobo. I have a couple of intel PRO/1000 GT desktop on order to try it out. I will also have to check if it's heat related. Do you have any other suggestions of what i can try? I can try to replicate the problem by doing a stress test and then try to find out which card is locking up...?
