SR-IOV on 82576 on, VM on VF can not talk to VM on Bridged network

$

I have set up SR-IOV on a Dell C6145 that has an Intell 82576.

Configuration is

VM1 is assigned a direct VF,  on network 10.10.6.0/22

VM2 on same host is not assigned a VF, and has a bridged network br0 to 10.10.6.0/22

VM3 on same host is also on bridged network br0

Separate Physical machine Ph1 is also on 10.10.6.0/22

Ph1 can ping VM1, VM2, VM3

VM1 can ping Ph1 , but not VM2 or VM3

VM2 can ping VM3 and Ph1

VM3 can ping VM2 and Ph1

using tcpdump on VM1, I can see arp broadcast asking for mac address, and arp tables shows it knows the mac address, but no packets are being delivered/routed.

Is there something I am overlooking?

Bonding in active-backup mode with VF

Hi all,

Can someone confirm that if one wants to configure active-backup bonding with 2 VFs, the fail_over_mac option should be set to 1?

According to my experiments and web searches, it looks like this is the only supported option but the "Configuring QoS Features with Intel Flexible Port Partitioning" document [1] doesn't give much details about it.

Thanks in advance for your inputs,

Simon

Ok I'll keep this brief.

Problem:- LAN regulary disconnects and reconnets 30 seconds later.

Symptons:- Loose connection to Lan / Internet for around 30 seconds.

Background:- Had this problem with both P8P67 B2 and P8P67 pro boards. I have several other computers connected to the switch (not hub) and they are working fine. Have replaced the lead to no avail. Have even used the same lead in several other computers which works fine.

Config:-

overlapping packets

Hello,

I bought Intel i210-t1 network card (kernel 3.3.4-5.fc17.i686.PAE Fedora 17) and compiled igb driver with PTP (Precision Time Protocol) option and with tcpdump command and -j adapter option captured traffic on that network card.

But even with timestamping on the card there are packet overlappings. The link to the capture file is:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/kl0i6s4s77w2wfw/ts3_src.pcap

For example for packets no. 564, 747, 920, 954, 999, there are overlappings with next packet in time. Do you know what is the reason for this? Regards, Milutin.

Setting the SpeedDuplex from the command line

I am trying to set the SpeedDuplex setting on an "Intel(R) Ethernet Server Adapter I350-T4" card from the command line.

I have installed the latest "Network Adapter Driver" and have followed the steps from the "configure pro/1000 PT quad port for use on Hyper-v 2008 rc2" thread. But, much like reported in the same thread, it always tells me "Setting name not found: *SpeedDuplex" even though it is listed as "*SpeedDuplex - Auto Negotiation" when I run "PROSetCL.exe Adapter_EnumerateSettings 1".

Any other ideas for how to set the SpeedDuplex from the command line?

Hello

How do you configure the speed and duplex on a Windows 2008 RC2 core installation. The system recognizes the card but the duplex is wrong.

I217-V No connection with 100 full duplex setting

We've just started deploying some new PCs that have the intel i217v ethernet controller and there has been an intermittent problem where if the interface is set to 100mb full duplex it will drop the connection and windows will say the network cable is unplugged. Changing some of the advanced settings (ie. interrupt moderation, interrupt moderation rate, efficient ethernet etc) will sometimes resolve the problem temporarily. Changing the speed back to Auto will fix the problem however this is not ideal for our network where the switch ports are set to 100 full rather than auto (no this cannot be changed).

The drivers are up to date and I have tried it with and without the extras that come with the drive

log;Hi,

I am trying to installing the latest version of Intel Proset onto a 2008 Server to enable NIC load balancing, but it fails everytime with the message "This Version Of Intel Proset is not supported for upgrades. You must install it"

It is not listed in Add/Remove Programs

I have followed the Intel Guide and removed countless registry entrys

I have used msiinv &msizap to check and remove and offending msi files

All to no avail....

If I turn on the logging and try and install via command line I get this in the log, but I can make sense of it or use it to help me find the problem..

Any ideas?

Intel Onboard LAN Freeze System for seconds every serveral minutes.

Hi,

I am using an intel onboard ethernet I217-V with most updated driver e1d63x64.sys 12.8.33.0 (5/30/2013).  I am using Windows 8 64-bit and recently I found the system freeze for seconds every serveral minutes.  After struggle to debug for a long time, I use process monitor from Microsoft to see what happen inside.  Everytime the system freeze, i found that there are over thousands of lines of below appear in the process monitor.  After finding for a long time, I found that that is related to the LAN driver which write huge data to the registry repeatly at a very very short time such that make my system freeze.  Restart my PC and router, reconnect the wire also do not help.  Do you have any adivse?

82566DC LAN port on motherboard will not utilise DHCP

$

I have a Dell Dimension 9200 with an 82566DC (Gigabit) LAN port on motherboard. O/S is now Win7 64-bit SP1 fully patched.  Previously was on Vista.

The only way I can get it to connect reliably to my 100Mbps router is by setting a fixed IP address, gateway and DNS.

If I set it to utilise DHCP, Windows thinks the network cable is not connected.  Clearly the cable is connecting, because lights blink when the cable is connected AND it works perfectly with a fixed IP address.

I have loaded the latest PROWin64 drivers from the Intel website and tried the driver supplied from the Dell website, but fixed IP seems to be the only reliable way of making it work.

Any ideas?

82579V Win8 reporting "No Internet Connection", but connected

I'm pulling my hair out here.  I've reverted drivers back to the Microsoft drivers, re-installed various times and think I have this issue fixed only for it to come back a few days later.

82579V on Windows8 is reporting "No Internet Connection".

I am able to connect fine, tried static and dhcp configs, setting 100/full duplex and auto, "wait for link" auto and off.

Motherboard is an Asus Maximus Gene V.  Provided drivers have the same issues, and I'm out of idea's.

82574L NIC on DZ77GA-70K failing repeatedly

New Windows 8 install on DZ77GA-70K board.  About every 24-48 hours the 82574L integrated NIC fails hard--all communication through it stops and Windows will not shut down--the NIC seems to be hanging it.  I see the same thing when looking at the NIC properties when it is hung and trying to apply any changes (e.g. IP address change)--the properties dialog hangs.

Have updated to latest drivers and latest BIOS.  Problems continue.  Am about to RMA the board.

Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM (WinPE drivers)

Hi everyone,

We purchased a few DELL Optiplex 9020s that came with an Intel Ethernet Connection I217-LM ethernet controller, and I've been unable to find the correct WinPE x64 drivers for this adapter.

From the Download Center I found what I thought were the correct drivers. In the EXE, I found some WinPE drivers, but apparently these aren't it as I'm not able to connect to my network when I boot up using WinPE.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the correct drivers please?

Thanks!

Intel Server NIC I350 LACP IEEE802.3ad teaming issue

Hello

I face an issue which i cannot resolve for almost month even with the help of intel support.

I have:

Intel Server System R1208GL4DS with buildin I350 4 ports inet adapter

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2

NIC drivers ver 18.4 (PRO set with ANS)

Data Center provides ieee802.3ad dynamic aggregation teaming connection, It uses 2 ports on my server (0 and 3)

DC uses Cisco Nexus switches

SpanningTreeProtocol is ON and cannot be switched off by DC.

Problem:

One of the adapters suddenly goes on standby state and doesnot pass traffic.

As the result the whole connectivity to server and to services I use stuck at that moment.

There is only one way to resolve is to restart server or restart whole team by changing the team properties.

Nic properties:

flow control off

ofloads off

rss off

Team:

I have tried to change everything playing with any property within nic or team. No luck.

Please advise as I'm almost stuck.

Thank you.

SR-IOV dropping packets when *other* VFs are configured

Hi,

I've been doing some testing using an HP Ethernet 1Gb 2p 361T Adapter in a DL380p Gen8.  The software used is CentOS 6.4 and igb 4.3.0 and igbvf 2.3.2 Intel drivers.  I've noticed that when a VF NIC is under load (typically reading multicast at 80-110 MB/s), the packets can get dropped when one or more of the following are performed against different VFs on the same card:

  • ethtool -G
  • vconfig
  • ip link set up dev eth1.NNN
  • python sock.setsockopt(socket.IPPROTO_IP, socket.IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP,mreq) call

Is this to be expected?

Thanks in advance,
